Wine of the Week. 92/100.
The wines of Swings & Roundabouts frequently surprise me, punching well above their weight. This is one more in a succession of great-value wines. The company is rather secretive, the shareholders silent and the winemaker - Brian Fletcher – kept in the shadows, although he is highly accomplished with decades of experience. Before him it was Mark Lane, now at Balgownie. The wine is pale yellow and delicate, lightly oaked and undeveloped. The passionfruit and citrus aromas are tangy and overt; the palate light and fresh, with understated complexity, beautiful balance and good length. The sort of chardonnay that grows on you. Now to 5 years.
